Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
    Timberhill Physical Therapy asks you to bring the following:
    1. The prescription for physical therapy from you doctor.
    2. Completed intake forms you have downloaded or received in the mail.
    3. Your health insurance cards.
    4. Your co-pay. We accept cash, checks, Visa, and MasterCard.
    5. Loose, comfortable clothes. You may want to bring a halter top or gym shorts. We have gowns if needed.
    6. A calendar to schedule future visits.
    7. If diagnosis is plantar fasciitis there may be a gel you need from the pharmacy.
  2. What should I expect on my first visit?
    At Timberhill Physical Therapy you can expect the following at your first visit:
    1. In general, a first visit will last one hour fifteen minutes.
    2. A thorough evaluation will be performed.
    3. There will be time for treatment during the first visit.
    4. The physical therapist will develop a plan of care to meet your individual needs. Your personal goals will be important in developing the plan.
  3. What can I expect from you?
    As a patient of Timberhill Physical Therapy you can expect the following:
    1. You will be treated with respect and courtesy.
    2. You will be seen in a timely manner. Occasionally we are slightly delayed, but we make an effort to not keep patients waiting. After the initial visit, most following visits are 45 minutes in length.
    3. You will have treatments explained to you. If you don't understand, we expect you to ask questions.
    4. You will be given care with a systematic and reliable approach to achieve the best outcome.
    5. You will expect to see steady improvement. If you do not, you will be referred back to your doctor. Your doctor will be contacted by your physical therapist.
    6. You will have your records and condition kept in strict confidence.
  4. What do you expect from me?
    As a patient of Timberhill Physical Therapy, we expect the following from you:
    1. We expect you to listen carefully and follow the guidelines for exercise and home treatment recommended by the physical therapist.
    2. We expect you to ask questions to make sure you understand the instructions. If it's not clear, we want to know.
    3. We expect you to report any and all changes in your condition.
    4. We expect you to give us the courtesy of a phone call if you cannot make an appointment. We ask for at least 24 hour notice. We realize illness may prevent that much notice.
  5. What can I expect about my recovery?
    As a patient of Timberhill Physical Therapy you can expect the following about your recovery:
    1. Physical therapy techniques can correct dysfunction in the musculosketal system.
    2. Physical therapy facilitates the body's natural ability to heal from illness or injury.
    3. Following a treatment you may feel better immediately or you may be somewhat sore for 24 hours. You should feel improvement after that.
    4. If you listen carefully and follow the guidelines given to you by the physical therapist you should make steady progress.
    5. Occasionally recovery setbacks occur. It's important to inform your physical therapist so that you can identify the cause and correct it, and continue on your road to recovery.
